We're excited to partner with Bird Alliance of Southwestern New Mexico and Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy to host 2026 City Nature Challenge - Silver City! We have an awesome lineup of events, starting this Friday: we'll be at the Silver City Library to talk about the amazing biodiversity of our region and practice using the iNaturalist app to identify species. We're excited to build on our successes from last year when we documented 384 species. Our goal for this year is to hit 500! How many species will YOU find?! Visit our website to find out more about all of our City Nature Challenge events, and visit Gila Resources Information Project to learn about all our Gila Earth Day events. #WatershedKeepers #Biodiversity #CitizenScience #CityNatureChallenge #GilaEarthDay

Thank you to everyone who attended our San Vicente Hike last week and THANK YOU to Bob Schiowitz for being such a tremendous guide!! It was a beautiful day to take a hike, watch a black hawk soaring overhead, and learn about the history of industry and milling along San Vicente Creek. This waterway has been the epicenter of life and business in Silver City since our Town's establishment. We are proud to be a part of this history and work to create a healthy riparian habitat with beautiful recreational trails. If you missed this hike, look out for GRIP's upcoming Gila Earth Day events, including City Nature Challenge 2026! #WorldWaterDay #SanVicenteCreek #Restoration
